On Thursday, May 1, 2025, the Ghanaians Against Child Abuse (GACA) Campaign, spearheaded by the Department of Children under the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, held a high-impact public outreach event at the Accra Mall. This initiative forms part of the campaign’s nationwide efforts to promote child protection and galvanize public action against all forms of child abuse.
As one of Accra’s busiest commercial hubs, the Accra Mall provided a strategic setting to engage a wide cross-section of the public—including families, youth, and working professionals. The event aimed to raise awareness, educate the public, and inspire a national culture of accountability and vigilance in the protection of children.
Throughout the engagement, the GACA team interacted directly with mall visitors, distributed informative materials, and offered expert guidance on recognizing and responding to child abuse in its various forms: physical, emotional, sexual abuse, and neglect. The team underscored the urgent need for a collective societal commitment to safeguarding the rights, dignity, and future of every child in Ghana.
Attendees were also encouraged to visit the official GACA website—www.iamgaca.org—to make a personal pledge in support of child protection. The online pledge campaign is a cornerstone of the GACA movement, designed to promote civic responsibility and strengthen grassroots participation in national child protection efforts.
“We believe that informed communities are empowered communities. Each pledge represents a tangible commitment to creating a safer and more nurturing environment for Ghana’s children,” the GACA team stated.
The GACA Campaign continues to collaborate with a broad network of stakeholders—including civil society organizations, development partners, traditional leaders, and media institutions—to build a resilient and inclusive framework for child welfare across the country.
